If you love to kick your heels up, abandon your weekly cares and worries, meet new people and enjoy a few ales, then ceilidh’ing is most definitely where it’s at.
Myself along with the fab musicians of the Brighton Ceilidh Collective are happy to announce that we’re hosting a regular public ceilidh in central Brighton.
The event is called ‘Rant’ and takes place on the first Friday of each month, 8pm – 11pm (doors open 7.45pm), in the refurbished One Church Building, Gloucester Place, by the North Laine and opposite Grand Parade.
Don’t worry if you’ve never ceilidh’d before, we’ll walk you through each dance first and there’s always someone more experienced who’ll help with a gentle shove in the right direction if you get lost.
In the ceilidh scene, it’s perfectly acceptable to arrive on your own as you’re never without a dance partner for long.
We’ve also set up a Meetup.com site to help build a ceilidh community and it’s also a great way to get to know names and faces of the other revellers before you come so that you recognise folks even on your first visit.
Suitable for age 15+
We’re the big green doors where you see the red and white ‘RANT’ banner, just a few doors along from the North Laine Pub and opposite Grand Parade.
From previous experience we know that a LOT of people turn up to these events so we’ve set up the Meetup group partly as a way for Ranters to buy advance tickets so they can guarantee a place.
Some tickets may be sold on the door but you’ll need to be there early to avoid disappointment.
All tickets cost £10
