An Introduction to Calling for Ceilidhs

A workshop with caller Heather McAslan

Saturday 27 April  11am – 1pm.
One Church, Gloucester Place, Brighton BN1 4AA

Ever looked at a dance caller on stage, thought, ‘that looks fun!’? Join caller Heather McAslan in this beginner callers’ workshop and try it out for yourself! We’ll talk through the basics of learning and teaching dance figures, how to count steps and how to choose music. We’ll also touch on skills like reading a room and what to do if (when!) a dance goes wrong!

Heather is a ceilidh, contra and balfolk caller with a decade of experience calling for public events, festivals, and private functions in the UK and US. Her first ever calling experience was at RANT in Brighton! All calling in this workshop will be gender neutral.
