For the last eight years Brighton Ceilidh Collective have been one of the lynchpins of the area’s ceilidh dancing scene, with our regular public ceilidhs, known as Rants as well as playing at over a hundred weddings and parties.
We chose the name just because we like the word – and it’s also the name of a folk dance step.
Usually they’re held at One Church Brighton, on Gloucester Place, just south of The North Laine pub. Once a year at the Brighton Fringe Festival, we do a huge shindig up at BHASVIC Sixth Form College too.
What do I need to know before I come?
Apart from just a ticket and a pair of comfortable shoes, you don’t need anything.
Our ceilidhs are for newcomers and experienced dancers alike. Our callers pride themselves on making first-timers welcome on the dance floor. They’ll tell you exactly what you need to do.
Come alone or with friends. Don’t worry if you don’t have a partner for dances that need one. Just stick up your hand and it’s our caller’s job to find you someone to dance with.
It’s important to us that our ceilidhs are inclusive. The people who come to our dances are lovely – at least we think so.
Brighton Ceilidh Collective present Rant. Friday 18 February 2020 7.45pm – 11pm. Please note. Dancing starts at 8.00pm. Friendly caller.
