Brighton Ceilidh Collective present Rant with caller Gill Emerson

Friday 3rd January  7.45pm – 11pm.
One Church, Gloucester Place, Brighton BN1 4AA

Please note. Dancing starts at 8.00pm. There is a bar serving drinks that include an ale.

Our ceilidhs are for newcomers and experienced dancers alike. Our callers pride themselves on making first-timers welcome on the dance floor. They’ll tell you exactly what you need to do.

Come alone or with friends. Don’t worry if you don’t have a partner for dances that need one. Just stick up your hand and it’s our caller’s job to find you someone to dance with.

It’s important to us that our ceilidhs are inclusive. The people who come to our dances are lovely – at least we think so. Please read our Welcome to Rant – also included below. Please take a minute to read our Terms and Conditions before purchase.

PLEASE BRING YOUR TICKET WITH YOU, EITHER PRINTED OR ON YOUR PHONE

FAQ

Who’s welcome?

Everyone! Our ceilidhs are gender-free and inclusive. Our caller will talk you through each dance, so it doesn’t matter if you’ve never been to a ceilidh before.

Can I bring the kids?

We recommend 12+ for our ceilidhs.

Who are Brighton Ceilidh Collective?

We’re a group of friends who’ve been putting on public ceilidhs in Brighton for over ten years. We believe that ceilidh is a great way of bringing people together, friends and strangers, in a joyful environment.

Help. I can’t come. Can I refund my tickets?

As our Ts & Cs say, our tickets are not refundable, but if you know you can’t come let us know as soon as you can and we’ll try and refund your ticket. We’re always trying to keep prices down for Rant so we HAVE to sell out to make these events work. That means we can only offer partial refunds if we manage to re-sell your tickets before the event.

Welcome to Rant – please read.

Rant, and all other Brighton Ceilidh Collective events, are set up to be fun, friendly and welcoming social spaces for everyone.

We don’t have many rules, but the ones we have are important. The main rule is to make sure you and everyone else enjoys themselves. We want everyone to feel safe and happy at our events. Cheesy as it sounds, one of the things we love most is to see everyone grinning helplessly as they dance around the floor…

We have gender-neutral calling, so anyone can dance with everyone, at any time. Note that even if you come along with a partner, some dances will involve changing partners.

Most people come to Rant to dance – that’s what it’s for. Some people like to chat and socialise too, but not everyone. We ask that everybody respects each other’s personal wishes in this regard.

It goes without saying that we also don’t tolerate any inappropriate behaviour or insulting language. We know our lovely Ranters are better than that, but if anyone witnesses anything un-Rantlike, or feels something is not right, please let us know.

It’s also the case that not everyone will want to, or be able to, do every move within a dance. That’s fine, and no one should feel they’re being pressured into doing anything they feel uncomfortable with.

Some dances, or some moves, can be quite fast or physically demanding – so make sure you and the person you are dancing with are OK with that before you start the dance. It’s not OK to push or pull people around while dancing. Some people don’t like to be lifted or wildly swung, either, so please bear that in mind too. You can always adapt any of the steps or moves to suit yourselves. Feeling good is more important than dancing perfectly.

Basically, look out for one another, keep each other safe, and have the best time you’ve ever had.
