10th Anniversary celebration Rant: 27 April 7.00pm
Brighton Ceilidh Collective present Rant with caller Heather McAslan
Saturday 27 April 7.00pm – 11pm.
One Church, Gloucester Place, Brighton BN1 4AA
Brighton Ceilidh Collective is 10 years old! To celebrate as part of our weekend of Dance, we’ve a very special ceilidh with caller and musician Heather McAslan.
Heather has been with BCC from the start, though she now lives in Glasgow. Heather is an accomplished mandolin and piano player, and just completed a tour this spring with fiddle player Mari Black. She is one of the team behind Acadia Festival of Traditional Music and Dance in Maine and has led contra workshops at Halsway Manor.
Please note. We’re starting up to an hour earlier than usual. This 10th Anniversary Rant is part of a special Weekend of Dance. If you want to raise the bar, you can also sign up to our Beyond The Basics afternoon with Heather before the ceilidh. There is a reduced-rate ticket for tonight’s ceilidh for dancers who’ve been to the afternoon session.
Our ceilidhs are for newcomers and experienced dancers alike. Our callers pride themselves on making first-timers welcome on the dance floor. They’ll tell you exactly what you need to do.
Come alone or with friends. Don’t worry if you don’t have a partner for dances that need one. Just stick up your hand and it’s our caller’s job to find you someone to dance with.
It’s important to us that our ceilidhs are inclusive. The people who come to our dances are lovely – at least we think so.

FAQ
Who’s welcome?
Everyone! Our ceilidhs are gender-free and inclusive. Our caller will talk you through each dance, so it doesn’t matter if you’ve never been to a ceilidh before.
Can I bring the kids?
We recommend 12+ for our RANT regular ceilidhs. Our occasional Family Ceilidhs are for all ages.
Who are Brighton Ceilidh Collective?
We’re a group of friends who’ve been putting on public ceilidhs in Brighton for ten years. We believe that ceilidh is a great way of bringing people together, friends and strangers, in a joyful environment.
Help. I can’t come. Can I refund my tickets?
As our Ts & Cs say, our tickets are not refundable, but if you know you can’t come let us know as soon as you can and we’ll try and refund your ticket. We’re always trying to keep prices down for Rant so we HAVE to sell out to make these events work. That means we can only offer partial refunds and only if we manage to re-sell your tickets before the event.
